Make Sure The Work Is Done Right

Once a lift has been removed the next thing you need to do is have the opening finished off with new joists, flooring and plasterboard. We have seen some quite poor examples of building work including some from companies selling themselves as lift removal companies. Here are a few tips to ensure the work done is to the correct standard.

  • Ensure that new joists are fitted. Never accept noggins along the inside of the aperture.

  • Ensure that the correct joist hangers are used and ensure that the tails of the hanger are wrapped over the top of the joist. Not folded inwards or cut off.

  • Ensure that the joists are spaced no more than 400mm apart.

  • Ask for photographs of the completed joist work before the floor and plasterboard is fitted. You should also ask the company for a completion certificate.

We ensure that all our clients receive photographs and completion certificates for our work. This ensures that the client has proof that all the work we carry out is to current Building Regulations
